Nicki Minaj Faces Criticism For Gospel Song

Nicki Minaj did a collaboration with popular Gospel Ariste Tasha Cobbs Leonard for which she is heavily criticised by fans of the gospel singer and lovers of spiritual songs.

It is not the first time that a rap artiste has tested their vocals on the gospel side. In fact, there are many Rappers as well as R&B singers who started out singing on a church choir.

One might think that gospel lovers would be elated to know that an artiste from a different genre has decided to connect with their spiritual side publicly since it could lead to a complete transformation. However, that is not the case with Nicki and Tasha.

Some gospel fans have decided to give Nicki a backlash for her recent collaboration with Tasha.

Tasha Cobbs Leonard released her new album entitled “Heart. Passion. Pursuit” earlier this month and Nicki is featured on one of the songs.

The song that Nicki Minaj is featured on is titled, “I’m Getting Ready.”

If the title of the song did not intrigue you, then, the lyrics will as it echoes sentiments of unwavering faith.  Yet, apparently, some fans are in disagreement to Nicki on the track.

Tasha has come to the defence of “The Moment For Life” artiste and she has the following to say to those dishing out negatives about the collaboration.

“I’ve seen the Nicki that is off the stage and that Nicki has a great relationship with God. My assignment with this song was for a particular audience. Some (individuals who listened to the song) have never experienced God ever and she exposed that audience in her way, to the God that she loves. The testimonies that have come because of this – I would absolutely do it again. I’ve had thousands of people say to me, ‘This is the first time I’ve ever bought a gospel album. This is the first time I’ve ever felt God. I didn’t believe in God until I heard this song.’”

Below is the collaboration for you to take a listen.
